Title

Lakeview Methodist Assembly Cabins

Description

Postcard sent to Celeste Kitchen by her mother in 1953. The photograph shows several of the cabins. Still in existence, Lakeview is located in the Piney Woods of East Texas. According to their site it was established in 1947 as the site for a camping ministry of the Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. The photo is mounted on a postcard backing.
On back: "Miss Celeste Kitchen, Registrar Lamar College, Beaumont Texas -- Oct 28 -- 53. Dear Celeste, Just finished supper and will have the evening devotional and preaching and sing sone. Bro Hassler will lead that. He says you are still one of his babies. He is good. Its so pretty here and all are so good. Celeste wish you could be here. We rode around this P.M. and the woods is really nice. Mother."
