St. Charles Church and School Building -- 1st Building

Description

The First St. Charles School was a frame building on piers. You can just barely make out some people standing in the doorway to the right.
Caption below photo reads: "First St. Charles School, 2604 Avenue A, was also first St. Charles Catholic Church at 904 Chicago at 9th from 1924 to 1936." According to a history written by W. T. Block, the building was initially located at 904 Chicago. When the new brick church building was constructed in 1938, the old frame church building was moved to Avenue A to become a school.
