First Water Tower in Nederland

This water tower was constructed in 1938. According to an August 14, 1938 Port Arthur News article the tank was built by the Nederland Utilities Corporation as part of the improvement of Nederland's water
system to provide fire protection. The 50,000 gallon tank stood 100 feet above ground. A Midcounty Review article dated April 11, 1963, pg. 6 said "JUST A MEMORY -- Remember the tall water tower that graced the city's sky line for many years before it was recently demolished. The water tower could be seen from all directions as it stuck into the Texas sky, making a landmark for travelers between Port Arthur and Beaumont.
