Boston Avenue -- Aerial Photograph

Aerial view of Boston Avenue looking toward 15th Street. The street at the bottom is Twin City Highway. The photograph appeared in the Port Arthur News, 16 Oct 1977, pg. 10F with the following caption: "NEDERLAND ABOUT 25 YEARS AGO -- Nederland was only a small town in the mid-1950s with a population about 5,000, almost double today. This aerial view shows Boston Avenue, the street in the middle, is not completed to the school in the background. The school is now Central Junior High but at the time it was Nederland High School, constructed in 1952. Three streets to the left of Boston Avenue is Nederland Avenue which at the time was considered out of town. The area surrounding these two streets was still mostly swamplands and grass lands 25 years ago and only a few scattered houses."

On back is a label which reads: "An aerial view of Boston Avenue -- note that there is no school at the end of the street."
