Description
Photograph appeared in the Chronicle, 29 April 1948, pg. 3 with the caption: "Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Carter standing in front of their home which was built around 1900. Although Mr. Carter is dead, Mrs. Carter, the former Clara Koelemay, lives in the old homestead today." The property was purchased by the Nederland Independent School District in May 1949 since it adjoined the property where the stadium is located. The location was the corner of 17th & Detroit.
