Nederland High School Yell Leaders, 1946

According to the 1946 Pilot, candidates for yell leader demonstrated before the students who had assembled in the gym. Voting was done by secret ballot in each home room. Chief function of the yell leaders was to lead in the backing of the football team, however, the group also went further and were responsible , along with the maids, for theparties in honor of the team. Of the 1946 group, John "Doc" Willey was the only yell leader to return from the previous year and was the 1946 captain. Joyce Beakes was the senior's representative in the group.
