Description
Photos show the front and left side of the two-story wood structure known as the Old Mercantile Antique Co-op located at 1166 Boston Ave. An article in the Port Arthur News, 4 Sep 1991, pg. 1 stated that the original building was destroyed by fire about 1909. the structure was replaced by the Wagner building which was originally across the street. After it was purchased, the Wagner building was moved to the current location. The article also stated that because the original building was moved across the street without being turned around, the back of the building became the front. A historical marker concerning the site wa erected in 1991.
