"Robbery" Foiled by "Sheriff"
Description
Photo appeared in the Port Arthur News, 7 July 1969, pg. 2 with this description: "Western Week started on Monday in Nederland with a simulated bang when sponsors staged make-believe roberies at Ward's Western Wear store. "Sheriff" Homer Taylor and "Deputy" Bill Stockton foiled the "hold-up" and "corraled" the "Robbers" under the "hanging tree." Taylor, assistant chief of the Nederland police department, is a left. Others in the staged hold-up party are, from left, Buddy White, on the horse on the sidewalk -- co-owner of the store, Stockton, a charter member of the Hefferson County Sheriff's Posse -- George Hallmark, city inspector -- R. G.Kageler, president of the Chamber of Commerce, holding the "money bag" -- Bob Henson, city manager -- and M. L. C. Lucke, businessman. Taylor is also a member of the Sheriff's Posse. ..."
